Ahead of the Medigen trial, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has begun its own trial on mixed-dose booster shots. It’s recruited 400 front-line medical staff and flight crew who are fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca. They will receive either a full dose of Moderna, a full dose of Pfizer, a full dose of Medigen, or a half dose of Moderna. Their antibody levels will be tested one month, six months, and 12 months after the shot. Let’s hear from the hospital superintendent. With many of these medical workers, the antibody levels have already dropped off considerably. So theoretically, they are due for a third dose. The CECC has already made boosters available to 60,000 people in the first three priority groups. Specifically, it’s offering a half dose of the Moderna COVID vaccine. The policy is supported by a British study showing that a Moderna booster is the most effective at increasing antibody levels, when compared with Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
