For the better part of a decade now I've been intrigued by the comparisons between Shenmue and Yakuza that have been made, mostly offhand, by countless other content creators. A lot of things have been said about each game individually but never have I seen any instance of anyone actually examining them more closely to see if they really can be compared in the first place.
