After the damage to their hearing cells and hearing loss. Humans cannot recover hearing cells, only chicken skin. Humans have 16,000 Hearing cells in each ear, and they're biologically designed to last our lifetime. Friends and people I interact with would say: “ I'm so good. I don't need you yet.” And why yet? Why wait until they're dead before coming to see us. Dr. Joseph Miller at University of Michigan has spent his lifetime researching inner ear biology and hearing cells. He actually wrote the book on free radicals in the ear for your nose and throat physicians. I called them and talked to them about what they were doing. And he told me he discovered that the 16,000 hearing cells we’re born with biologically should not be lost with birthdays. And he discovered how the cells work. And how we could keep them healthy by doing research on guinea pigs and why guinea pigs you should ask. They have the same hearing organ and metabolic system to humans. During this time, we discovered there's a way to keep these hearing cells healthy. I collaborated with them and developed the duet method, a method of testing what he found in Guinea pigs and humans. So now in June, we are launching my new brand of hearing health preservation called Duet Hearing. How does it work? Every one of every age with two ears or even one ear should preserve what they have because it is our communication system. Number one. I decided it's time to change audiology from ‘wait till it's bad enough’ to ‘let's preserve what we have’. Science has shown us how to do that and Dr. Joseph Miller did the research. Similar to the dental model, brush your teeth so you don't get cavities. You have hearing preservation and hearing checks every six months so you don't damage and injure kill your hearing cells. If we could keep hearing healthy we could keep your brain healthy. Is it more than just going in twice a year to have your ears checked? Hearing is actually this unbelievable balance, it’s like an orchestra. Each cell in your brain is connecting sound to the brain to make meaning. The duet method is strengthening the sound of brain connection preserving all your hearing cells and making sure that we can keep yourself healthy similar to brushing your teeth so you don't get cavities. That doesn't tell you Oh, you have three cavities just come back when you need a root canal. Right? The only way way we've been able to practice audiology is when it gets bad enough. We put hearing aids on patients. The duet method is a combination of preventive care, checking out the hearing organ and the auditory brain, the health of both, and the nutraceutical developed by University of Michigan to keep hearing cells healthy, and then sound to brain strengthening programs. Our brain really depends on rhythm and timing to process sound and speech.
