Putting the PS1 & Saturn versions of MYST side by side. The green lines represent the edges of the screen if you were playing these games on a TV. This is to help show how thick the borders round the "gameplay area" are on both versions, especially the PS1 port where the it fills less than half of the available screen. Since Myst is really only a collection of still images laced with bits of video I simply don't see why it needed to be shrunk down so much. Was the game really such a system hog that they needed to take such drastic measures? Both games run at a similar speed & load times are about the same (though they're very inconsistent on PS1, sometimes quick sometimes long). Many of the sound effects on the PS1 are missing or different. Both versions support mice which is nice because playing Point and Click adventure games with a D-pad is slow & tedious. The one major issue is with the stability of the PS1 game as I had major issues playing it for more than 20 minutes at a time without it locking up on me. The disc was spotless & I tried playing it on the PS1, PS2 & PS3 all with the same issues. I even ran it through an emu just to see & sure enough 20 to 30 minutes in it crashed. I guess they didn't do much bug testing back then :(
