They are literally rotting to death behind closed doors of their apartments. They are numerous. We just cannot see them in the streets as they are mostly unable to go outside. We cannot hear them either, since they do not have a chance to speak. Nobody cares about them and it is terrifying. Ilya Varlamov is a Russian blogger, famous for his knowledge in urban science, his photoreports from around the World and regions of Russia specifically and his YouTube channel, where he talks about urban issues, he meets cities administration and where he interviews famous people who he believes to be the best in their work. One of them is Mitya Aleshkovsky. He is a journalist and a social activist but more importantly he is a chairman of Help Needed charitable foundation. Their mission is systematic development of charity in Russia and change of public attitude towards solving social problems. In this film Ilya Varlamov and Mitya Aleshkovsky visit several regions of Russia and show some examples of what is happening to the poorest and most miserable people of their country. They speak about ways to help effectively, ways which are more than just direct cash transfers.
