Tomorrow, February 2nd at 3PM, Buddhist monks complete Day 100 of their historic 2,300-mile Walk for Peace in Richmond, Virginia. After 99 days walking through 6 states in brutal winter conditions, they arrive at Capitol Square for a Peace Rally that the world is watching. 🙏 TOMORROW'S SCHEDULE (FEBRUARY 2, 2026): • 1:30 PM - Public lunch at Firehouse #17 (2211 Semmes Ave, Richmond) Firefighters and police will exchange patches with monks Anyone can meet here and WALK WITH THE MONKS to Capitol Square • 2:30 PM - Streets around City Hall close for event • 3:00 PM - PEACE RALLY at Capitol Square Mayor, Governor (or representative), and thousands gathering Bhikkhu Pannakara will share message of peace • 4:30 PM - Monks depart for Henrico County 📍 HOW TO PARTICIPATE: IN PERSON: • Peace Rally: Capitol Square, City Hall, Richmond VA - 3:00 PM (arrive early!) • Walk WITH Monks: Meet at Firehouse #17 (2211 Semmes Ave) - 1:30 PM ONLINE: • Live Map: dhammacetiya.com/walk-for-peace • Facebook Live: @walkforpeaceusa • Instagram: @walkforpeace.usa • YouTube: Search "Walk for Peace 2026" 📅 THE JOURNEY: • Started: October 26, 2025 (Fort Worth, Texas) • Tomorrow: Day 100 (Richmond, Virginia) • Final Arrival: February 11, 2026 (Washington DC, U.S. Capitol) • Distance: 2,300 miles on foot • States crossed: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia • Followers: 2.4 MILLION on Facebook 🎯 WHY THIS MATTERS: Yesterday in Petersburg, VA, THOUSANDS waited up to 6 hours in freezing cold just to witness the monks pass by. Families with babies. Elderly in wheelchairs. Rotary Clubs brought heaters because people refused to leave. A woman named Heather Martin drove twice in one day to see them. She wrote: "The emotion of being in their presence is indescribable. You see love in everyone's eyes and realize peace is really what we all need." This isn't about religion. This is about humanity remembering what we've forgotten: that peace is possible. That gentleness is strength. That silence speaks louder than shouting. 👤 MEET THE LEADER: Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara - Former Motorola engineer, University of Texas at Arlington graduate. Left the corporate world to dedicate his life to walking for peace. Each morning he says: "Today will be my peaceful day." Some monks, including Bhikkhu Pannakara, walk BAREFOOT despite winter temperatures dropping to the teens. 🐕 ALOKA THE PEACE DOG: A stray dog rescued in India now travels with the monks (currently recovering from surgery). Aloka has become a global symbol of compassion for all beings. 📰 RECENT EVENTS: • Jan 31: Thousands greet monks in Petersburg, VA (some waiting 6 hours) • Jan 31: Monks stay overnight at Virginia State University (HBCU) • Feb 1 (Night): Peace Sharing Talk at Kingsland Baptist Church (420K+ views on livestream) • Feb 2: DAY 100 - Richmond Peace Rally • Feb 11: FINAL ARRIVAL - Washington DC 💬 MONK'S MESSAGE: "Our walking itself cannot create peace. But when someone encounters us—when our message touches something deep within them, when it awakens the peace that has always lived quietly in their own heart—something sacred begins to unfold." "Peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." "Today will be my peaceful day." - Bhikkhu Pannakara 🎥 WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: After Richmond (Day 100), the monks continue to: • Fredericksburg, VA • Quantico Marine Corps Base (where warriors meet peace-walkers) • Arlington National Cemetery • Washington DC - U.S. Capitol (Day 110 - February 11) Subscribe to follow the final 10 days and witness the historic arrival in Washington DC! ⏰ TOMORROW - FEBRUARY 2, 3PM - RICHMOND, VIRGINIA Heart touching heart.
