Exercise Iron Sword 2016: Military Information Support Operations (MISO)

This December, U.S. Special Operations Forces present in Eastern Europe were invited by the Lithuanian military to provide observational and training support for Exercise Iron Sword 2016. This exercise provided SOF an opportunity to observe their Lithuanian partners train and validate their skills. Exercise Iron Sword 2016 was a two week multinational Battalion Battle Group field training exercise in Lithuania. Participants included conventional, airborne, and mechanized infantry battalions from Lithuania, the U.S., Canada, Estonia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. There were observers from Ukraine and Sweden. The first week of exercises focused on company situational training exercise lanes and the second was a large scale, force on force, maneuver exercise. In this video, one Lithuanian Tactical PSYOPS Team conducted a deception broadcast of mechanized units moving towards an enemy position. The team planned, briefed the supported Polish Commander, conducted tactical movement with a platoon, and broadcasted these sounds during hours of low visibility towards an opposing Platoon. The Platoon, believing they were going to be overrun, abandoned their defense position prior to the major assault on an urban site. Thanks, and keep watching for more!
