作曲:何占豪、陈钢 | Composer: He Zhanhao, Chen Gang 演奏:赵聪一家 | Performer: Zhao Cong and her family 乐器:琵琶,钢琴,小提琴 | Instrument: Lute, Piano, Violin The Butterfly Lovers is one of China’s most renowned pieces of classical music. It tells the legendary tragic love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, whose names form the title. The title is often abbreviated to Liang Zhu (梁祝). Liang Zhu means “butterfly” in Chinese, so the English translation is "Butterfly Lovers". Many regard it as the Chinese equivalent of Romeo and Juliet. Zhu is a brilliant young girl who pretends to be a man to attend school, where she and her classmate Liang fall deeply in love. When she finally reveals her true identity as a woman, they prepare to get married - but her parents have already arranged her engagement to another man. Liang dies of a broken heart, and Zhu commits suicide. The two are reincarnated as a pair of butterflies. The story inspired the production of Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto, or Liang Zhu Violin Concerto in Chinese. It was composed by He Zhanhao and Chen Gang in 1958. The piece is the most musically symbolic retelling of the legendary tale of romance.
