My first Backpacking Trip! Shasta Trinity National Forest

My first backpacking trip July 23-25 2024, Shasta-Trinity National Forest. I wanted to go with a group of like minded womn to learn, have fun and feel safe. I found a group trip through ‪@rei‬ it was the perfect way to do my first trip! Three days, two nights, six miles a day along the Pacific Crest Traill near Mt. Shasta and summiting Mt. Eddy at 9,025ft elevation, my first summit at that elevation! The elevation ascending to Mt. Eddy was catching up to me, you can hear me huffing and puffing, lol. The first night we camped at Porcupine Lake, 7,250ft elevation and the second night at Deadfalls Lake, 7,259ft elevation. Swimming in the alpine lakes was amazing and really what I was most excited for on this trip. The water was cold, refreshing, beautiful and so clean! The best part was being able to drink directly from the springs along the trail! Mt. Shasta is known for its clean and pure drinking water that filters through the volcanic rock from rainfall and snow melt. We had perfect weather, it was honestly an amazing trip, a great group.
