This is a summer of fly fishing that I won't forget, not because of the fish we caught, but the 2 that got away. The first fish was on Lake Wellington and my wife Aimee gave it her best but came up short. She is new to fly fishing and will be back in 2026! Her bow was the fish of a lifetime on a 5wt. The second fish a brown trout is all on me. My net magnet was attached to the top of the net and not the handle. The line got caught in the o ring and the fish went back to growing bigger. I owe my brotherp-in-law some future netting magic as this fish broke our hearts. Even putting the video together was painful.
