South Africa Now | 5 March 2026 In today’s update, widespread rain and flooding are reported across several parts of the country. Flooding is seen in Lenasia in Gauteng, while steady rain falls in Waverly in Pretoria, Meyerton, Tembisa and along the N1 north towards Randburg. A rainy morning is also captured at Woodlands Boulevard in Pretoria East. Rain is also falling in Paul Roux and Oranjeville in the Free State. In Cape Town, slow traffic builds up on the M5 south after a car crash, while a drive through the city shows an aircraft landing at Cape Town International Airport. In Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, a tree has fallen on top of a car at the corner of Buffelsfontein Road and 10th Avenue. Elsewhere, abnormal load trucks are seen passing through Piet Retief towards Ermelo in Mpumalanga. In Pretoria, both a Metro Rail train and the Gautrain are seen passing at the same time. We also capture moments from OR Tambo International Airport as a South African Airways aircraft approaches the terminal gate. Wildlife sightings include lions spotted at Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga. Scenic coastal views are also featured from Kalk Bay, False Bay and Camps Bay in the Western Cape, as well as views from Walker Bay Estate in Stanford. Additional scenes include a drive through Florauna in Pretoria North and an inter-school A League gala between Midstream College Primary and Midstream Ridge Primary in Centurion. Cloud formations are also seen over Verulam in KwaZulu-Natal. From weather updates and traffic incidents to wildlife sightings and beautiful coastal scenes, this is South Africa as it unfolds.
