In the Georgian and Regency period, foods such as Blancmange or Jelly were popular dishes found on a dinner party menu. The Georgians also loved a spectacle at a meal. Bacon and Eggs Flummery is a curious sweet dish disguised as a savoury one. It's found in the recipe book 'The Compleat Housewife' by Eliza Smith, the 18th edition written in 1773. In this video, our historic cook follows Eliza Smith's recipe as closely as possible to recreate this illusion food, and the team taste the results to tell us what they think.
