The Dresden Heist: What We Know About The Green Vault Raid

German media has described it as one of the biggest heists since the second world war. Thieves broke into one of Europe’s largest collections of art treasures in Dresden’s Royal Palace on Monday, getting away with three sets of priceless 18th century jewellery. The burglars disabled the museum's alarm, smashed a window and cut through a fence in order to gain access to the room known as the Green Vault. CCTV captured two men breaking open a display cabinet inside. Almost all the artefacts taken were made during the rule of Frederick Augustus III, the last Elector of Saxony.
