Haryana riots: AAP blames Khattar’s rally

A report by the Aam Aadmi Party on the recent Ballabhgarh riots in Haryana has blamed Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s rally for vitiating peace in the area. AAP’s fact finding committee, headed by MLA Naresh Balyan, had visited Atali village, Ballabhgarh after reports emerged of communal violence incidents. The report said that the villagers had "never seen trouble before" and that the tension spread a week after Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a rally at neighbouring Mona village. "After a court order, the (Muslim) community took permission from the panchayat and began building their religious place. There was no tension and one floor was even built. But, Chief Minister and RSS leader Manohar Lal Khattar held a sabha at Mona village on May 18 after which there was a widespread tension in the area," said Balyan. Senior leaders Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh, who visited Atali on June 3, said in a party statement that “the police seemed to be working out of political compulsions". The report has also claimed that the police did not act in time and that the perpetrators were “still roaming freely”. “We want that the matter be investigated by a sitting justice of the High Court within a limited timeframe," an AAP statement said.
