Early morning on the Indian River Lagoon in Melbourne, Florida, and the water came alive. In this video, my daughter and I are talking through the view as a pod of dolphins actively feeds along the Riverwalk — the future home of Compass Point by Margaritaville. The lagoon is known for its resident bottlenose dolphins, but at the 0:55 mark, you’ll notice one dolphin with striking white sides and a noticeably lighter underbelly. At first glance, we assumed it was simply a larger, older bottlenose dolphin. But after reviewing the footage, we began wondering — could this possibly be an Atlantic white-sided dolphin? Atlantic white-sided dolphins are typically found in deeper offshore waters and are considered rare in this region. If that’s what we’re seeing, it would be an extremely uncommon sighting in the Indian River Lagoon. That said, we can’t confirm the species — just sharing what caught our attention. 🌊 In this video you’ll see: • A pod of dolphins feeding in the Indian River Lagoon • Morning wildlife at the Riverwalk (future home of Compass Point by Margaritaville) • My daughter narrating the experience • The unique white-sided dolphin at 0:55 • Real-time waterfront wildlife on Florida’s Space Coast The Indian River Lagoon is one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in North America, and mornings like this are why waterfront living along the Space Coast is so special. 👇 Drop a comment if you think it’s just a bottlenose — or something more unusual. #IndianRiverLagoon #MelbourneFL #Dolphins #FloridaWildlife #CompassPoint #Margaritaville #SpaceCoast
