MFB 503 demo. Completely dry. Just raw filth I like this little box for the money. It packs a nice punch. The kick has a lot of variation. I think it does better boomy 808 kicks than hard knocking 909's, although it still sounds punchy when required. The snare sounds nice and crunchy but thee's not much variation apart from the pitch and noise.. You can make it quite snappy by shortening the decay to minimum. Overall, ver useable but a bit limited. Toms sound good at the bottom register. Not fond of them pitched up high. They can even make a nice warm bassline with each tom tuned diffently. I wish the decay parameter could go shorter for making more clicky percussive effects. Each tom mutes the next, so by setting one with a long decay and a falling pitch, you can get some interesting rythyms as the long decay is chopped by a shorter tom. Hats are very old school sounding. Sound nice to me. Cymbal mixes between a 909 crash and ride. By playing with the mix parameter you can get some different sounds. I like to pitch it all the way down and use it as an open hat. This cuts through a mix sharply. Just what is needed for the open hat. Its not perefct, but for the cash is produces a big sound. Hats off to the MFB crew for putting a nice sounding semi-analogue drum machine into the hands of the poor! Peace
