Boom Bap Basics 02: The Sample // Loops and Chops In Maschine // Beat Making Tutorial

This is the second video in a series that focuses on beat making techniques that can be used in making Boom Bap. I use Native Instruments Maschine but many of these techniques are fundamental to the genre and can be transferred between DAWs (FL Studio, Ableton, Logic...) and other music making devices. In this video we look at two way to use samples in your Boom Bap beat. For the first beat we find an 8 bar loop and in combination with Maschine Sampler Engine and Audio Engine we are able to isolate the loop within the sample and time-stretch it to a desired pitch and tempo. Sampling and looping in this manner is reminiscent to producers and beat makers such as Alchemist and Madlib. In the second beat we manually chop a different sample for more control and the ability to rearrange and replay the sample. This technique allows you to pick and choose specific sections within a song or even multiple songs to create something new. Which is the magic of sampling. To take something old and make it new and your own. Sampling Checklist 📝 1. Set polyphony to 1 2. Put samples in the same choke group 3. Use Tap Tempo to find your samples BPM Sampler Engine "Tune Knob" adjusts pitch and tempo Audio Engine "Tune Knob" adjusts only pitch.
