So after recording the know I finally get into the map the apparently had 788hp…. Not sure on the dyno but it was super happy. It only produced 560 give or take and it was knocking or more accurately detonating like made. Getting into the map it’s easy to see why… it has the same timing at 1 bar of boost as it does at 1.6bar. Not sure why but there you go. There is also no closed loop boost control even though the maps are there it’s all turned off. On top of that some of the maps had their scales adjusted for 2 bar boost (gauge) but not the cells inside. Crazy. That means that the values used at 0 bar (gauge) had been used for full boost. I don’t know what’s going on at all. I can say though that these maps aren’t accessible normally so only the last tuner could have made changes. Interestingly the previous tune was using the OE strategy for ignition timing and this really isn’t ideal for this type of application. I would have been better to create two maps for ignition timing. We will end up doing this at some point. Unfortunately we ending up with the clutch slipping brining it all to an end. The owner is taking the car back for some body work and touching up other parts of the car. Hopefully it’ll be back soon, we can sort the clutch and then get a tune on the car worthy of keeping.
