¡Hola! Welcome back! Today, we’re flying Air Europa’s Boeing 787-8 from Madrid to Gran Canaria. I chose this early flight for the chance to fly a widebody on a short route! This 787 was originally operated by Norse Atlantic (ex-Norwegian) until 2022, so it has a different cabin layout, no business class, and a premium economy section instead. We departed Madrid before sunrise, from runway 36L. It was still dark and foggy, but soon, waking up at 5:30 AM was worth it—a stunning sunrise lit up the sky as we flew south into the Atlantic Ocean. In flight, I grabbed a cappuccino for 3€, while the IFE had a more limited selection than UX’s usual 787s (and no inflight map!). Still, the 2-hour flight flew by, and soon, we were on the final approach to LPA, touching down on runway 21R.
