Back where it all began 🏁💚 In this episode of Warren & Melissa Go Riding, we head back to Meerendal Wine Estate – the place where our MTB journey first kicked off. From nervous first laps to confident sends, these trails shaped us, and it felt pretty special to roll through them again with a whole lot more miles in the legs. One of the defining features of Meerendal is the Dorstberg climb. Long, steady, and mentally testing, it’s a climb that has broken many riders over the years. What makes it even more iconic is that the current Dorstberg climb used to be the old descent — back when brakes overheated, arms burned, and line choice actually mattered. Now you grind your way up it, gaining height and respect for just how wild it must’ve been coming down. The highlight of the ride is the full descent from the top of Dorstberg all the way down to the gate, linking everything into one long, grin-inducing run that reminds you why Meerendal is such a timeless trail network.
