Myth: You can tell if a diamond is fake if it reflects rainbow colors. Bust: If it’s a really fake diamond, this is TRUE. If it’s a lab grown stone, this is FALSE. A real diamond or real stone almost always reflects a nice yellow or grey tone, NOT colors of the rainbow. The color you see should be very muted and almost nonexistent. Crystals will more likely reflect those rainbow colors instead. If you follow me on YouTube or TikTok, you’ll notice I make lots of videos about engagement rings. If you’re buying a ring, a more affordable option than a real diamond is a lab grown stone. While this technically isn’t a TRUE diamond, it is not detectable under the human eye or even a microscope. You can truly see zero difference between a lab grown stone and a diamond. The only way you would know is through documentation. So, the short answer is, if the diamond is fake, you should be able to tell by the colors it reflects, unless the diamond is a lab grown stone (making it the perfect diamond alternative). Let me know if you have any other questions or myths you’d like me to bust. Thanks, guys!
