Rockford, Illinois! What to do when visiting for the weekend!

Welcome to Rockford, IL! a short 60-90 minute drive from Chicago, IL Join us as we spend the weekend here checking out Rockford! We checked into the Embassy Suites Rockford (situated right along the Rock River), perhaps the best hotel you can book when visiting (both - the location and the hospitality).. we stayed here for 2 nights and ate on site as well (Tower Kitchen and Bar and the Top (rooftop Bar and lounge).. We highly recommend you check Top out when visiting, food and ambience were phenomenal. Not to mention, you get a great aerial view of historic downtown Rockford. Our day started off by checking out Klehm Botanic Garden - they have various different events all throughout the year so check them out ahead of time to see what's happening! We were fortunate enough to visit during the Eerie autumn lights - onsite they had Food Networks' very own carving the pumpkin along with others! Next day we went to Edwards Orchard West, a great spot to get apples, pumpkins, pets some animals and let the kids run around and have fun. It's an orchard so you can also pick apples (during the proper season). We then head over to Discovery Center, a fun museum for kids ! the best part of this museum was the outdoor park, a massive playground with fun facts and just fun all around! They also have a planetarium inside as well as a lot of other fun, interactive fun for kids (and adults!) We then head back to our hotel and checked out the Sports simulator! While it's called the "golf simulator", this simulator had many many games/sports to choose from! Easily spend a couple of hours here final day - we left to the Anderson Japanese Garden - a serene, beautiful place well worth visiting! they have Fresco - onsite dining/restaurant and coffee shop as well! We finally finished off our day by hitting up Urban Air, a jump zone for kids to just have fun!
