Fever | When to Worry | Parents

Watch as Parents Magazine shows when to worry about fever! Fever symptoms are a sign that your baby's body is fighting off germs. Take her temperature with a rectal thermometer. If it reads over 100.4, that's an infant fever. Some reasons may give you further cause to contact your doctor: she's under three months old, the fever lasts longer than a few days, she's lethargic, or she has difficulty breathing. Also watch for febrile seizures, rash, or dehydration. Also watch how your child's mood changes--a happy, feverish baby is less concerning than a weak, borderline-fevered baby. Your doctor may recommend baby acetaminophen or ibuprofen, a sponge bath, and plenty of liquids. These can combat fever in children very well!
