January 2014 - A letter in the Irish Times from the medical registrar at St. Vincent's said the following: "The real scandal at St. Vincent's University Hospital is the overwhelming increase in acutely unwell patient volume since the effective closure at St. Colmcille's to out of hours admissions. This has led to a doubling of medical and surgical asmissions to an already stretched, but otherwise efficient and well-run, public hospital. Clinicians of all grades and disciplines are working flat out to cope with the increased demand." So I wanted to ask the Tanaiste to ensure adequate resources are deployed, as promised, to ensure no lives are needlessly put at risk.
