I know many of you are taking some time off now so I thought I would reflect on the time we take away, and specifically, from what we are trying to get away. I specifically want to talk about lifelong learning skills and lifelong learning mindset. If you need a lifelong learning motivation video, this episode is for you. :-) 00:27 - Being born with very little. All we have is our health and access to education. 01:38 - What many of us trying to take a vacation from. 03:00 - Lead indicators of success in 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s etc. 03:20 - Losing a job, being managed out, dead end career. Why this happens? Yes, sometimes it is just bad luck. But not always. 04:10 - Viewing education as an even. And once we experience the event we move on. 04:31 - A manager I knew at PwC who had an opposite of lifelong learning mindset. 04:50 - In life we are all marked on a curve. You need to watch how your competitors are doing. If a few colleagues with lifelong learning mindset keep educating themselves they will raise the average for everybody. And a small group will always have a lifelong learning mindset. You need to make sure you do not fall behind the curve. 05:25 - A lifelong learning mindset is a big commitment. 06:03 - When you educate yourself you need to demonstrate the skills to showcase to colleagues you have developed a new skill. If you can demonstrate new skills you gain the respect. 06:33 - And the amount of new things to learn keeps changing after your degree, isn't it? It is pretty much an endless list, and it is unique for each person. And the true prize is a promotion or impact you can make. 07:02 - I believe lifelong learning mindset is crucial. I am often asked "what do you think was the most important reason you achieved the things you achieved?" In other words, how did I manage to break out of my orbit. And to me, the biggest reason is clearly a lifelong learning mindset and my willingness to pay the price that comes with it. 07:30 - My advice is, of course, continue to take time to rest. 08:30 - Find creative ways for you to continue learning. This video is all about lifelong learning motivation, lifelong learning skills, lifelong learning video, successful people, motivational speech, lifelong learning your way, lifelong learning for students, successful people motivation, successful people speech.
