As the name suggests, ten people were killed due to financial and relationship disputes, which made the news at the time. The perpetrators of this crime were villager and gambler Kido Kumataro and his underling Tani Yagoro . Kumataro's common-law wife Onui was having an affair with Matsunaga Torajiro , the younger brother of Matsunaga Denjiro , the village leader , and Kumataro soon found out about it.
