FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN PART 1 00:00 Introduction 1:20 Structure of Female Reproductive System 3:35 ovaries 8:01 Structure of ovary 11:40 ovarian follicles 15:48 corpus luteum 20:23 Diagram of the human ovary 24:36 graffian follicles During pregnancy, the female reproductive system is in charge of generating eggs (ova), aiding in fertilization, and promoting the growth of the fetus. To carry out these tasks, it is made up of both external and interior organs. The ovary's intricate structure is made up of multiple vital parts that are essential to female reproductive activity. Here is a summary of the key components: 1. Outer Cortex: The cortex is the outermost portion of the ovary. It has follicles, which are structures that hold the oocytes, or developing eggs. From primordial follicles, which are the earliest stage, to mature (Graafian) follicles, the cortex also contains a variety of follicle phases. 2. Inner Medulla: Beneath the cortex, the medulla is the inner portion of the ovary. It is made up of nerves, lymphatics, blood vessels, and loose connective tissue. The medulla is in charge of giving the follicles the support and nourishment they require. 3. Ovarian follicles- Primordial ovarian follicles, which contain a primordial oocyte, are the earliest and most immature type of follicles. They are born with them and inactive till adolescence. Primary Follicles: Made up of a primary oocyte encased in a single layer of granulosa cells, these develop from primordial follicles. Secondary Follicles: These follicles have an antrum, which is a hollow filled with fluid. Granulosa cells surround the oocyte. Mature follicles that are prepared for ovulation are known asGraafiann follicles. During ovulation, the follicle is prepared to release the egg, and a bigger antrum encircles the oocyte. 4. Oocyte: The female reproductive cell that matures in the ovarian follicles is called an oocyte.
