I used cedar for this bird house, you could use pine, but it is best to use wood that is naturally resistant to rot such as cedar, redwood, or cypress for example. What you don’t want to use is treated wood. You could also finish the outside of the bird house by painting it or using a clear coat of some kind, but do not finish the inside of the bird house, keep that the natural wood. I just kept the outside natural to let it weather.
