TURBT-Transurethral resection of Bladder Tumor|Dr Brojen Barman

TURBT (Transurethral resection of bladder tumor) is “incision-less” surgery performed to resect bladder tumor. It is the first-line surgical treatment for bladder tumors. A resectoscope (a special instrument) is introduced through the urethra into the bladder. Resectoscope has a small loop of wire at the end that can remove a tumor. The loop also cauterizes (seals off) the blood vessels to help stop any bleeding. The tumor chips are send for pathological examination. Further treatment and follow up of the patient depends on the biopsy findings. In this vedio we present TURBT for a patients who has been a chronic smoker and had presented with blood in urine and found to have bladder tumors.
