Big Bear eggs typically hatch 37-40 days after laying! After the first pip is seen, there is usually a hatch 24-48 hours later! Can't wait!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥ The eggs are 30 & 27 days old today (March 26th) and the usual incubation period is 35 days. The normal hatching of the eggs for Jackie & Shadow is 37-39 days. Shadow is on the nest when Jackie arrives back with a small stick. Ravens are calling out & Shadow snortles ring out to greet Jackie! They have lots to say to one another, Jackie gives a quick beak kiss to Shadow! Shadow takes a break and flies off. Later in the day when Shadow is back on the nest, Jackie arrives to the high perch with loud chortles and Shadow joins in! Their switcheroo's have been excellent. Jackie incubates for awhile but she needed a break before the night shift so she calls out for Shadow. He is over on the Cactus snag and when she flies off (watch her soar over the lake!), Shadow comes flying over to take care of the eggs. That was a surprise for him to get to incubate another shift. Jackie returns before dark and for the last shift change of the day. They make a great team - pip watch is coming soon!
