60532 "Blue Peter" & D6851 "Flopsie" Crewe & Carlisle Stations "The Cumbrian Mountaineer" 12/02/2026

12/02/2026 - Crewe & Carlisle - "Blue Peter" & "Flopsie" A fantastic day spotting on a very damp and cold February day started out with the 1P60 service from Northallerton (NTR) to Manchester Piccadilly (MAN) where I picked up the Northern 2K33 over to Crewe (CRE). Arriving in plenty of time to bag a spot to capture some cracking footage of 60532 “Blue Peter” departing from the station heading for the final leg of 1Z31 London Euston » Carlisle with “The Cumbrian Mountaineer” Then it was onto 1N62 Avanti West Coast service to head up the West Coast Mainline (WCML) to Carlisle (overtaking Blue Peter along the way) to arrive in plenty of time to capture her arrival into Carlisle (CAR) station. Then there was bit of bonus footage to be had in the shape of class 37 No: 37667/D6851 "Flopsie" which arrived into the station to drag the set out to Upperby TMD in preparation for its workings back to Euston later in the day. For me it was back onto a Northern in the shape of 1N62 to take me from Carlisle (CAR) to Newcastle (NCL) and then a quick scoot over to platform 3 to catch the 16:27 1Y18 back to Northallerton (NTR) to round off a long and fairly tiring day but a great day for spotting. Also covered off some new track/traction and stations for me.
