When my CT scan revealed a mass near my appendix and fluid in my abdomen, my world changed overnight. What started as a possible hernia turned out to be a rare form of appendiceal cancer. I was terrified — especially after hearing about something called HIPEC, or Heated Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy.
