No Tax Oregon leaders deliver signatures for referendum on transit funding bill

“No Tax Oregon” leaders in a horse-drawn carriage are delivering the signatures for a referendum on the transit funding bill to the Secretary of State’s office for verification. The bill, signed by Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek on Nov. 7, increases the state's gas tax by six cents and raises several DMV fees. It also raises the state's payroll tax to support public transportation. The haul of signatures is more than double the 74,000 signatures needed to qualify for a statewide referendum next year. The Secretary of State's office must still verify the signatures for them to count.
