This Mini PC is Insane!!! Intel NUC Hades Canyon NUC8i7HVK Mini PC Review

The Simply NUC8i7HVK combines a new Intel Core-i7 processor with the AMD Radeon RX Vega M GPU in a unique way to maximize the communications between the two chips on a carrier that also has the GPU HBM2 graphics memory. NUC8i7HVK delivers high-end gaming class VR-Ready performance in a cost, power, and space-efficient package. The Hades Canyon VR can play the latest and hottest games at full rendering at a minimum of 60fps and a typical competition setup running 144 to 200fps all while running at a fairly quiet level and using less than 130 watts of power. The Hades Canyon 8i7HVK can support up to six displays at 60Hz Ultra High Definition, While the 8i7HNK can support 4 screens at 60Hz Ultra High Definition. The front of the Hades Canyon has an SD card reader, as well as a USB-C and two 3.1 USB ports, one of which is a charging port. Complete with a front facing HDMI port, have everything you need right at your fingertips. The rear side of the Hades Canyon Is overloaded with IO and video options. Two MiniDisplay ports as well as two Thunderbolt 3 with alt-DP and a second HDMI port gives you a combined six video ports. Four more USB 3.1 ports giving you space for all your favourite peripherals. The Hades Canyon offers 2 SO-DIMM slots which an accommodate upto 64GB of RAM (2 X 32GB sticks each). This is laptop memory. It also has dual NVMe slots which can hold upto 2TB drives each giving you a whopping 4TB of NVMe SSD storage. Our NUC Hades Canyon unit came with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This machine has very efficient heat management as well with vents at the bottom, front and back. While this isn't a hardcore gamer's PC per-say but it was able to give 60fps on 1080p games which really surprised us. Battlefield V ran smoothly locked at around 58fps with the graphics turned on High. Doom played at 60fps at 1080p on High settings. We saw similar results with Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. Even Crysis 3 ran butter smooth on High settings. It handled Lightroom and photo editing pretty well. It was okay to edit 1080p footage. Adobe Premier did run a little choppy because Premier is optimised to better utilise CUDA cores which are an NVIDIA thing and this was running an AMD GPU with OpenCL. But it wasn't obviously lagging. If you don't need to play VR games then you can even pick up the lower variant of the NUC which is the NUC8i7HNK and get a lower-end config to start out with and as and when your finances allow it, you can upgrade it. According to Simply NUC, the base level 8i7HNK will cost you around a $1,000 (Rs. 70K directly converted) and depending on your config you can blow up anywhere between $3,000 and $4,000 (Rs 2L - Rs 3L) on maxing this out. Moving to the higher variant, the base level VR Ready NUC8i7HVK will cost you between $1,200 and $1,300 (between Rs. 83-90K directly converted). This will go up as you start to choose from the various RAM, Storage, OS, Warranty, and I/O Accessories options. A completely maxed out VR Ready NUC8i7HVK - the highest possible config with the most expensive RAM, Storage, OS, Warranty, and I/O Accessories options will cost $4,746 (Rs 3.29 Lakhs directly converted).
