Vitor Semedo (sandboard cross), Daniel Vonach (freestyle), and Luka Flachenecker (slalom) have been crowned 2019 Sandboard World Cup champions. The sandboarding event took place in the stunning dunes of Huacachina and Paracas, in Peru, from June 6-9, 2020. Over 60 riders from more than ten countries competed in a contest run by the International Sandboarding and SandSki Association (InterSands) in cooperation with the Regional Government of Ica and the Embassy of Switzerland. "We have been working to motivate the world's best sand riders, and increase the presence of snow riders, to join the sandboarding revolution," explained Martín Guerra. "This is an ongoing process, especially when financial resources are scarce. But we're taking it step by step." The 2019 Sandboard World Cup had a full logistics, technical, media, and medical team working to make the event a success. The freestyle judging panel was made up of seven elements. Manuel Ries (Germany), Mike Lopez (Mexico), Cedric Giraudeau (France), Eduardo Wentz (Brazil), Franziska Mattle (Switzerland), Elise Dhaenens (Switzerland) and jury assistant Suzie Mandier (France) made sure fair scores were posted. The next Sandboard World Cup will take place in 2021. For more information, visit InterSands' official website: http://intersand.org/
