Jersey City shooting involving an officer rescue. Sergeant Jordan (she has massive balls) motivates the injured officer and escorts him to safety. This is in the wake of an armed suspect in a barricade situation. The suspect is still firing at officers. Numerous considerations I'd like you to think about: 1. What does your policy say about suppression fire? Would this have been appropriate in this situation? 2. What about 'warning shots' as long as they're reasonably safe, effective, and necessary? 3. Do you have contingency plans ready for your critical incidents? Officer down? Shots fired? Officer involved shooting protocols? Medical plans? Hostage rescue (stronghold, vehicle, open air)? Shots fired inside structure? Shots fired at you from inside structure? Fire? Succession planning (Sergeant goes down, Corporal goes down, Team Leader down). Disabled vehicle? Does the CP have operations, intelligence, and logistics ready? Security for your command post? (Your command post is ALWAYS vulnerable.) 4. Do you train how to extract unconscious civilians and officers into your patrol vehicles? 5. Do you disarm seriously injured officers? (They might be in shock. You probably should...) 6. What's the average time for a legitimate medical response? 7. Where's your nearest trauma center? How long does it take to get there? Do your officers know how to get there without a map? Other suggestions are encouraged.
