I use it for a very good reason - I am on the Autism/ADHD spectrum, and this manifests itself in several ways when I'm racing: 1st - my short term memory is very poor, it helps me remember where I am on the track 2nd - I struggle with focus and distractions, if I start looking to the side of the road for braking points then the cars in front had better watch out! 3rd - (and most significantly), I have this https://irlen.com/autism-more-than-me... - when I see the game image on the screen my brain does not process it as if it is a 3D environment - the effect is that it feels as though my car fills the track and I don't feel any space around it. The brightness of the racing line helps me quickly divide the racetrack into chunks - car widths. It is commonly claimed that the racing line induces tunnel vision in the driver. My tunnel vision is orders of magnitude worse without it.
