This new EP from Feral Howl rises like a shamanic chant summoned from the frozen fjords, a raw and ritualistic outpouring that casts aside gilded trappings in favour of something far more ravenous, retreating from the colossal sweep of past grandeur, honing its craft into a focused burst of primeval force, with each riff a jagged claw tearing at the veil between worlds, each drum strike echoing like a bone-rattle in a moonlit grove. From the opening roar, you’re drawn into a twilight realm where ancient gods stir beneath frost-darkened trees. The guitars tremble and wail with relentless fervour, conjuring rocky crags and buried altars, while the percussion pounds with the urgency of ceremonial drums guiding a procession into unknown shadows. Yet amid this monolithic storm, brief flickers of folk-tinged melodies intrude like ghosts dancing at the periphery, lending a haunting grace before you are once again swept back into the merciless tide. By the EP’s closure, you emerge blood-stirred and breathless, as if released from a trance. What remains is the echo of a hymn to darker deities, an offering steeped in primeval might and mystic beauty.
