Chinese manufacturer ZXMOTO secured its first historic double victory in the World Supersport (WorldSSP) category during the Portuguese round, a sport long dominated by names like Ducati and Yamaha. The ripples of the win were felt instantly 6,000 miles away in China at local dealerships. For Zhang Xue, the founder of ZXMOTO, those two gold trophies can be traced back to a small repair shop in Hunan. At 19, he chased a TV crew for 100 kilometers in the pouring rain just to be noticed by a racing team. In 2013, Zhang arrived in China’s motorcycle manufacturing heartland of Chongqing with just 20,000 yuan (2,900 USD) and a conviction that China’s supply chain could outmuscle the world’s best. By 2026, Zhang revealed a total output value of 750 million yuan ($108.54 million) for the previous year, with an R&D investment of 69.58 million yuan (10 million USD).
