As part of my effort to introduce new citrus varieties to California, I tasted the citrondarin, a bizarre citrus fruit from the former Soviet Union. Please take the variety survey (should take less than 3 min): http://fruitmentor.com/CitrusSurvey Taking the survey will help me to introduce new citrus varieties. Thank you! Thank you to Juli Mallett for taking part in my survey last year and suggesting the introduction of the citrondarin. It is not clear that citrondarin is actually a graft chimera. It may be a hybrid fruit rather than a graft chimera. As more is learned about the genetics of the citrondarin, the following page will be updated: https://citrusvariety.ucr.edu/citrus/... The following article explains how introducing new citrus varieties can reduce the spread of citrus diseases: https://swfrec.ifas.ufl.edu/hlb/datab... The following video shows 14 nasty citrus diseases that threaten not only California, but also citrus growing regions all over the world: • 14 Nasty Citrus Diseases that You MUST Avoid I thank Georgios Vidalakis and the volunteers from the Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP) who helped me to shoot this video. I especially thank the following volunteers who tasted citrus fruits with me on camera: Alex Syed (in this video) Tyler Dang (in this video) Gerry Uribe (will appear in future videos) The following video shows details of the variety introduction therapy used by the CCPP: • Grafting Citrus Trees under a Microscope You can support the CCPP mission by making a tax deductible contribution to the CCPP at the following link: https://myadv.ucr.edu/fruitmentor/200109 I also thank Tracy Kahn, Curator and Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection Endowed Chair.
