The Smoke Forecast is a BlueSky tool that was created to help first responders, governments and researchers determine the extent of smoke from wildfires in their areas of interest. This tutorial goes over a deeper insight into the forecast, using other tools to determine why fires may not be appearing within BlueSky despite their actual persistence in real life. The current smoke forecast for Canada and the USA can be accessed here: https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/ The tool we use most to discuss missing fires can be accessed here: https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/... BlueSky also has many other wildfire tools that can be found here: https://firesmoke.ca/ Credits: Producer and Narrator: Jalena Bennett BlueSky Content Creation Team: Roland Schigas, Dr. Henryk Modzelewski, Dr. Rosie Howard, Dr. Roland Stull and Tobias Schmidt Sponsors: Natural Resources Canada, Alberta Ministry of Environment and Parks, BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Northwest Territories Environment and Natural Resources, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and The University of British Columbia.
