While I suppose I’ve always dreamt deep down of having my own “Goodbye Earl” moment, it’s certainly not an easy thing to write - so having the hook and melody come to me randomly in the shower like a download one day certainly helped kickstart this song, before finishing it with trusted and frequent co-writers of mine, Nell Maynard and Tommy Kratzert. It’s been SO incredibly fun to explore a little different side of Country music for me, both topically and sonically. Plus, there will just never be enough Country songs that stick up for and celebrate women.
