Do you have Diamond Shield (or some other protective coating) covering the front cap of your coach? Does it have permanent stains that are impossible to clean? You are not alone: there are dozens of videos showing the problem and the solution is universally to remove it. Problem 2: it's SUPER difficult to remove this stuff. Today, we'll show how Jenifer and I removed the Diamond Shield from our coach. MAJOR TAKE AWAYS: -Cover your headlamps before you start spraying cleaners: they will ruin the finish. -The plastic razors were far superior to the plastic scrapers. -Replace the blade often: a fresh blade made the work relatively easy. Sharpening the blade when it got a ding did allow me to use it a little longer, but we discovered that it was more productive to replace than constantly trying to sharpen a dull blade. We should have bought 200 blades instead of the 100. -Try to make long, straight cuts. Trying to 'wobble' your way under the shield leaves vast fields of glue debris. -Use something to improve your grip on the blade holder - you should notice in the video that we started wrapping the end of the scraper with a paper towel to prevent blisters and improve leverage. -Goo Gone was by far the best product to remove the glue. Spray the Goo Gone on, let it set up, and then scrape it off with the razors. -After taking the glue off with the Goo Gone we used Mineral Spirits to clean up the Goo Gone haze. -Wash and wax often if you really want to keep the front cap clean of bug debris. 00:00 - Start 00:35 - First Impressions 03:03 - The Gear 05:17 - First Attempt 07:41 - Scrapers or Blades? 08:54 - Mineral Spirits Results 09:33 - Day 2 Goof Off and Razor Blades 11:49 - Goof Off or Goo Gone? 13:43 - Day 3 14:44 - Day 4 We've Cracked the Code 16:51 - Finished Removal 19:18 - Before and After The gear we recommend: Plastic Razor Blades: https://amzn.to/3EtyYL4 220 Grit Sandpaper: https://amzn.to/44KNwR6 Goo Gone: https://amzn.to/3R7guaS Mineral Spirits: https://amzn.to/3Reh8TP Paper Towels: https://amzn.to/3PugL6l Nitril Gloves: https://amzn.to/44JQ3en As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
