Bengal Govt Suspends 4 Poll Officials On ECI Order Over Voter List, FIR Pending | India Today News

The West Bengal government has complied with a directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI) by suspending four election officials. The officials are accused of significant irregularities in the voter list registration process, including the alleged inclusion of fictitious voters in electoral rolls. The suspended personnel include the Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers for the Baruipur East and Moyna assembly constituencies. This action was taken after the state government missed an initial ECI deadline of August 11, 2025, which was then extended to August 21. While the suspensions have been enacted, the state has not yet filed an FIR against the officials, which was also part of the Commission's directive issued on August 5.
