O LORD, how I need You. My Joy is found in You! | Beautiful Daily Prayer | 5/9/2025

THOU WHO DWELLEST IN LIGHT UNSEARCHABLE, yet stoopest to hear the cries of dust and ashes, attend unto me, Thy trembling servant. Thou art revealed in creation, yet hidden from mortal reason, known in covenant, yet marvellous in mystery. Though the heavens cannot contain Thee, I come boldly because Thy Son hath opened the veil torn asunder. Thou hast never said, “Seek ye Me in vain,” and I, though faint and undeserving, do now seek Thee with all my soul. In my necessity and anguish, I turn to Thee, the Rock that never crumbles, the Fountain that never runs dry. Possess me, O Lord, and let not my will be master over me, but bring every part of me into Thy wondrous captivity. Bind me to Thee with cords of grace, and let my lips be parched until they drink at the stream of supplication. Make me as a branch clinging to the Vine, drawing life only from Thee, and bearing fruit that glorifies the Husbandman. Let a holy stillness settle over my mind, that I might ever dwell in the nearness of Thy presence. May my common steps echo with eternity, and my daily doing shine with the reflection of Thy beauty. In the humdrum and the haste, let me rise inwardly to Thee, ascending in spirit though my feet walk dust. Grant me a heart of habitual devotion, that in tire and triumph alike, I may find shelter beneath Thy wings. Let my troubles teach me Thy tenderness, and my triumphs be an altar of thanksgiving unto Thee. Grant me to walk uprightly with men, seasoned in wisdom, robed in the grace that speaketh of Christ within. I praise Thee, Lord, that none but Thee could make a being such as I able to converse with Deity. Thou hast created me to know Thee, and to reflect, however dimly, Thy blazing excellence. Thou hast made joy not merely possible, but found in Thee, Thou unquenchable Well of delight. Advance with me, O God, through every turn of this earthly sojourn, for the path is narrow and my feet are often weak. What strength I first found in Thee, I now plead for afresh, lest I stumble and fall amidst the thorns and shadows. Make Thy love shine visibly in how I move and speak and live, convicting those around me with silent testimony. While Jesus intercedes above, let me mirror His kindness and purity below, a lamp to this dark land. While His blood speaks before Thy throne, let my life sing praises on this rugged shore. Let no sleep fall upon me without Thy nearness, and no day break without Thy blessing resting upon me. Thou hast led me thus far, and every promise hath proved a pillar of fire or cloud in my wilderness. When sorrow made me bend low, Thy presence lifted my chin and drew my tears into Thy bottle. In my deepest fears, Thou wast my defender, and in despair, Thou gavest me songs in the night. Thy vows are stitched upon my soul, and I praise Thee for promises too great for me to fathom.
