By utilizing the recently-discovered RETIRE trick and carefully manipulating loaded map data, it's possible to encounter Arceus in the void in less than 10,000 steps. Not only that, but you can catch Arceus an unlimited amount of times! =============== Requirements =============== A Pokemon with Teleport or Fly Must have used the Explorer's Kit at least once =============== Important! =============== In the steps below, you'll see some redundant "1 N" or "1 S" steps. These are singled out because they won't appear on your step counter when you do these single-steps. The exception to this rule is the Pal Park entrance. If you've already been to Pal Park, then the script with Prof. Oak won't run again and it'll just be a normal step that does show up on your step counter. Additionally, you must do the steps below EXACTLY as they appear. If you go any more or less than the number of steps instructed, there is a high chance that you'll have to start over from the Save & Reset position. If there is no script that's loaded 4th, nothing will happen. There are only 3 scripts in the Hall of Origin, but luckily, the 3rd script is loaded twice—both as the 2nd and 4th loaded scripts. This loading order allows us to encounter Arceus by using RETIRE in the Hall of Origin. Additionally, the reason why this method is so short compared to the methods used to obtain Shaymin and Darkrai is because of a better understanding of the Void itself. Many of the other methods travel upwards, which contains highly volatile data segments, including progress flag data. However, by traveling downwards, we're effectively encountering certain parts of loaded map data, such as the adjacent warps, the flag index, loaded object and sprite attributes, etc. By carefully and cleverly manipulating what parts of certain areas are loaded, we can force certain values to load very near our location in RAM and encounter those values as our new map ID. Just follow the guide step-by-step and you'll be able to catch Arceus in around 15 minutes or so. Q. Will this work in Platinum? A. Not at the moment. Platinum patched the ability to move freely within the void, which prevents any void-related exploits. Q. Can you get a shiny Arceus? A. Yes. Shiny locked Pokemon weren't introduced until Gen V. Q. Is there any way to soft reset for a shiny Arceus? A. Yes, but it must be during the 1792 S step in a Jubilife City area with outdoor Jubilife City music. Saving anytime after that or in a different area will have unpredictable effects. Q. Can you save during Pal Park mode? A. The SAVE feature is disabled in Pal Park mode, so you can't save while Pal Park mode is in effect. Q. Can you transfer this Arceus to PokeBank? A. If you level it up to Lv 100, then it will be able to be transferred to PokeBank. Q. Can you do this more than once in the same game? A. Yep!
