About This Video Driving through Everglades National Park to Key Largo, Florida, I gear up for an exciting dive at the USS Spiegel Grove. This old WWII ship was intentionally sunk to create an artificial reef, now buzzing with underwater life. The USS Spiegel Grove served the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1989. In 2002, it was sunk off the coast of Key Largo and became one of the largest artificial reefs in the world. The ship lies on its side, with its stern at about 134 feet deep and the bow at around 60 feet, making it perfect for divers of all levels. As I dive, I'm surrounded by vibrant marine life. The ship is home to colorful corals, sponges, and a variety of fish, including barracudas, groupers, and snappers. I also spot lobsters, eels, and sometimes even sea turtles hiding in the ship's many crevices. Exploring the inside of the Spiegel Grove is like taking a trip back in time. I swim through old cargo holds, engine rooms, and crew quarters, all covered in marine growth. It's a mix of eerie and amazing, seeing this piece of history turned into a thriving underwater habitat. For anyone into diving or just looking for an adventure, the USS Spiegel Grove offers a unique and unforgettable experience
