Iran, January 20, 2020—Members of “Resistance Units” and a vast network supporting the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran are marking the anniversary of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi’s release from the Shah’s prisons. Rajavi was among the last political prisoners released on January 20, 1979, just three weeks prior to the February 11, 1979, anti-monarchical revolution. Despite the risks of horrific measures by the mullahs’ regime if arrested, the brave youths were seen installing large images and quotes of Massoud Rajavi in various districts of several cities checkered across the country. In Tehran and Isfahan, large Massoud Rajavi banners were put up with various quotes reading, “The world should know that Massoud Rajavi is our leader” and “The end of the mullahs’ tyranny is near.” In the cities of Shiraz, Ahvaz and Rasht various images and banners of Massoud Rajavi were installed with quotes inspiring Iranian youth to continue this struggle against the mullahs’ dictatorship. In Karaj, Gorgan, Sabzevar, resistance units members and MEK supporters also put up Massoud Rajavi banners commemorating this day. In Qaemshahr and Tehran, brave youths carried out similar measures, literally keeping alive the fire of ongoing protests across the country by a people refusing to accept the mullahs’ tyranny. It is worth noting that any support for the PMOI inside Iran is considered punishable by death by the mullahs’ judiciary. Back in June 2014, Gholamreza Khosravi, an MEK supporter, was arrested and executed merely for sending a small financial donation to a satellite TV network affiliated to the PMOI/MEK. “Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani was arrested in 2008 in Rafsanjan, Kerman Province, in connection with his alleged support of the pro-PMOI (People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran) TV station Sima-ye Azadi (Voice of Freedom),” according to Amnesty International.
