Are you considering permanent birth control or curious about how tubal ligation is performed? In this video, I explain the different types of tubal ligation, a surgical procedure designed to permanently prevent pregnancy by blocking or removing the fallopian tubes. Also known as female sterilization, this method is widely used by women who are certain they no longer wish to conceive. 🌟 In this video, you’ll learn about: 1. Tubal Ligation During Caesarean Section During a C-section, tubal ligation can be done using the Pomeroy technique, where a loop of the fallopian tube is tied with absorbable suture and then cut. Sometimes, a segment is clipped and removed. 2. Postpartum Tubal Ligation (After Vaginal Delivery) Done usually on the same day as a vaginal birth. A small incision is made near the belly button to bring out and tie the fallopian tubes. 3. Interval Tubal Ligation (Minilaparotomy) Performed about 3 months after delivery once the uterus returns to normal size. A small incision is made just above the pubic area. 4. Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation A camera (laparoscope) is used to access and seal or remove the tubes. This minimally invasive method is popular and will be explained in more detail in an upcoming video. 5. Vaginal Tubectomy A less common approach where the incision is made via the vagina to access and tie the fallopian tubes. Who should consider Tubal Ligation? Women who have completed their families and are looking for a permanent, safe, and effective form of contraception. It's important to understand that this is usually irreversible and should be considered only when you are fully sure. 🩺 Why this video matters: As a gynaecologist with years of experience, I often get asked, “How is tubal ligation done?” This video will give you a clear understanding of your options, safety, and recovery. 📌 Whether you’re planning to have it after delivery, during a C-section, or later on, make sure to speak to your gynaecologist to understand the risks, recovery time, and benefits. 👩⚕️ About Me: I’m Dr. Selva, a Gynaecologist in Malaysia, committed to educating women on their reproductive choices.
