Rivington Pike & Two Lads: Epic Views Over Lancashire and Beyond.

Join me on a refreshing winter walk up to Rivington Pike and Two Lads in the West Pennine Moors on 9th February 2026! Starting from the popular Rivington car park l, this classic route took me across moorland paths, past historic sites, and to two fantastic summits with epic views over Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and beyond. A steady climb to the iconic Rivington Pike tower (around 363m / 1,191 ft) – built in 1733, it's a local landmark with panoramic views stretching to the Irish Sea on clear days. Close by across on the moors is Two Lads (around 389m), topped by its mysterious twin cairns – legend has it they mark ancient burial sites. It was almost an out and back route, with a total distance of about 6 miles, with an elevation gain of almost 1,100ft – with some gradual inclines, and steeper sections, and boggy bits typical of winter moorland.
